How can i obtain new weapons in battlefield bad company 2?

Just by playing alot online and leveling and eventually you'll get them.How can i obtain new weapons in battlefield bad company 2?
By leveling up and leveling up your weapon classes(Engineer, Assault, etc.) I believe.
