Is Battlefield 2 still worth buying?

I've been a Battlefield fan since BF1942 - Secret Weapons game out.

But I didn't have much money to buy all of the games.

I'm planning to buy BF2, but I'm not sure if there are a lot of people playing it online. Also, I've heard rumors about there being a lot of hackers and cheaters online. Should I buy the game?Is Battlefield 2 still worth buying?
There's over 12,000 people playing the game right now. There is a few hackers and cheaters, but plenty of servers to move to.

If it's cheap it's worth getting, but battlefield 1943 is out in 3 or 4 months.
