Battlefield 3 weapons- dumbed down?

i just got battlefield 3 and I am not much of a gun person



so can someone give me pointers on what to pick up while in campaign mode and dumb down the guns and what the hell they are. (such as an LMG or what ever)Battlefield 3 weapons- dumbed down?
AR: assault rifle. Long range with generally all fire modes.

LMG: light machine gun. Long range with high rates of fire and more power than ARs and SMGs.

SMG: sub machine gun. Generally a lighter version of ARs. All rates of fire with medium range.

SR: sniper rifle. High powered rifle with very long range. Semi-auto only.

PDW: personal defence weapon. Small, compact SMGs with short ranges and all modes of fire.

When playing campaign, it's best to use what you're given for each mission. Otherwise, pick what feels good to you.Battlefield 3 weapons- dumbed down?
first of all pick up all new weapons you come acrosss.
you could try carrying an assault rifle and maybe an explosive weapon or a shotgun it really depends on the level your playing.
a very open map may call for a long range weapon while for very tight or close quarters levels you could use shot guns or smg's.
