When enemy's weapons have been left of the battlefield. What happens to them.?

What items are soldiers allowed to take if any at all. When enemy's weapons have been left of the battlefield. What happens to them.?
Soldiers are not permitted to take anything for themselves personally.

That is called looting.

But everything found on a battlefield is fair game for the military to take, for intelligence purposes, to destroy the weapons, even as what is known as "spoils of war" where things can be taken to put in a museum or display. (oreven converted for use by the conquering military)

Taking a weapon, or ammo, or munitions to use as a back-up is permitted, because you are not taking it for yourself, you are taking it on behalf of your government..and you should turn it over when it is no longer needed.

Basically..if something is taken by, or on behalf of, the government..it is OK. If it is taken by an individual to keep themselves..it is illegal..
Generally weapons are policed up (gathered up) on the battlefield. Some are kept and units will bring them home for displays but most of the weapons are destroyed. The US Army has no need to use the enemy's weapons as our weapons are superior. In a pitched, desperate battle soldiers would use enemy weapons if our weapons were low on ammunition. When enemy's weapons have been left of the battlefield. What happens to them.?
Soldiers and Marines will sometimes take things as backup weapons or gear. But they usually disable or destroy enemy weapons and gear they find.
same like during weapons collcting - they are placed on a heap, and then shipped for dismantling.

explosive ordnance captured is dealt by the EOD teams in safe blast holes, unles usefull for allied effort. When enemy's weapons have been left of the battlefield. What happens to them.?
If they are functional I would guess the opposing army would take and use them. If it was something like a tank, they would probably take it and check out the enemies technology.
The army pics them up or the soldiers at war
either destroyed or used for backup
We used to give all that stuff to EOD and every few weeks they would take it all to the middle of nowhere and blow it up.
