How does weapon leveling and unlocking work in Battlefield 3?

Also, who's effing bright idead at DICE was it is make weapons level separately? This pisses me off something fierce.

I spawn on the Russian team like 80% of the time so when I get dropped into the American one, I'm screwed because the M16's iron sights are absolute crap (despite it being a slightly better weapon).



I don't get how I'm supposed to unlock better weapons and get good stuff for them if you can't control what team you're on.How does weapon leveling and unlocking work in Battlefield 3?
first of all you can still change teams in the beginning of the round if there is an empty spot on the other team. secondly after certain amount of leveling up with certain class you will get new weapon, I do suggest to use the new weapon and not the default one they give u, only when you have unlocked all weapons for that class then go back to the default weapon. lastly I do suggest to use the same weapon till u get 500 kills, thats when you unlock the dog tags for the weapon, there is no point trying to get more than 500 kills since there are no specific reward, also by using the same weapon you will naturally learn how to deal and adjust to its recoil. with time you will get targets far away in short bursts. unless you learn verrrrry slow.How does weapon leveling and unlocking work in Battlefield 3?
You basically answered your own question, you need to get a decent amount of kills with the wepons you get in the team your in to unlock new attachments etc.. but you already new that :3
